When creating a WhatsApp template, you might encounter this error message:
{{Variable}} is incorrect variable. If you want to personalize the message, please use the variables from the list. Learn more.
This error appears when you use a variable that doesn't exist in Graphy's available variable list.
Why does this happen?
Since Graphy doesn't recognize random or custom variables that aren't predefined, it cannot replace them with actual data when sending your messages.
How to fix this error?
To resolve this error:
- Go to Marketing from left navbar then select campaigns
- From right upper corner go to settings then manage
- Click on new and fill all the details and continue.
- Click on "Use variables to personalize your emails" to view all available variables
- Compare the variables you've used with the list shown
- Replace any incorrect variables with the correct ones from the list
- Example: Change
{{website_name}}
to{{site_name}}
- Example: Change
- Save your template
How to add new variables?
If the variable you want is not in the default list, you can create it as a custom field.
- Go to your Graphy dashboard
- From the left navigation menu, click on Settings → Custom fields
- Click "Add custom field"
- Fill the details and save.
- The new custom field will now be available as a variable in your Email and WhatsApp templates.
Best practices for using variables
- Always insert variables by selecting them from the variable list instead of typing manually
- Use custom fields if you need variables that are not available by default
- Avoid creating random placeholders like
{{first}}
,{{shop}}
, or{{website}}
— they won't work - Double-check your variables before saving to ensure they match the available list
Once you replace incorrect variables or add new ones as custom fields, your templates will save successfully and personalize your messages as expected.
