How to add "Fill in the blank/Numerical" type questions?

This article explains how to create/add Fill in the blank and Numerical type quiz within a course.

A Quiz is usually a short test. It is an interesting and engaging way for learners to better understand the nuances of the course. Learners can attempt it at any time and view instant results.

To create new items for the Quiz instantly click on “Add New Question”.

A page will open asking you to choose your preferred Type of Question.
Click on the box beside Type, then select "Numerical / Fill in the Blank".

Numerical / Fill in the blank

This is a Fill in the blank/Numerical type of question where the learners have to type in the answer.
Example
Question: Which is the smallest prime number?
Answer: 2 

Subject
Enter the name of the subject for this particular question.
Example: Maths.

Topic
The topic is a defined area of the subject. Defining the topic gives a heads up to the learners to prepare accordingly.
Example: Prime Number.

Tags
Tags are meant to specify individual topics & sub-topics related to the Quiz. You need to separate the tags by comma.
Example: Mathematics, Modern Maths, Number System, Prime Number.

Is Group Question?
Sometimes a batch of questions is formed from one single Question.
Example: A reading comprehension question will have a batch of questions from one common ground only.
If this question is one of them, tick it off.

Question Text
Enter the actual Question here.

Answer
Type in the answer text here.

Answer Range
In case of a mathematical problem, the answer might slightly to few decimal points. Range feature allows you to define an answer range, rather than a definite value. Any answer falling under that range is deemed correct.

To enable the Answer Range feature, tick off the "Answer Range" box.

Minimum
Here you need to define the acceptable least value of the learners' answer.
Example: If the answer to a question can't be below 5.5. Then you need to fill in 5.5. Any student giving 5.4 as an answer will be marked incorrect.

Maximum
Here you need to define the acceptable maximum value of the learners' answer.
Example: If the answer to a question can't be above 5.6. Then you need to fill in 5.6. Any student giving 5.7 as an answer will be marked incorrect.

Explanation
You can choose to provide the explanation to the correct answer here.

Show Advanced Options
Click on "Show Advanced Options" to discover more options.

• Order: Define the order of the question by giving them numerical value.
• Mark: This is the marks allotted to individual correct answers.
• Penalty: This is the marks deducted from the total score for marking individual questions wrong.

Click on "submit" to add the above question to the Quiz.
Repeat the process to add more questions.

After submitting all the questions, click on "save" to update all the changes.
