This article explains how to create "Match The Column" Quiz questions for the course content.
A Quiz is usually a short test. It is an interesting and engaging way for learners to better understand the nuances of the course. Learners can attempt it at any time and view instant results.
Steps to Create a Live Test:
Open your Course in Course Builder and click on "Create New Item" then select "Quiz".
Click on "Quiz" and fill basic Quiz information, then "Submit".
To create new items for the Quiz instantly click on “Add New Question”.
A page will open asking you to choose your preferred Type of Question.
Click on the box beside Type, then select "Match The Column".
Match The Column
In this type of question, you need to rightfully match the individual column I elements with that of Column II elements.
Example
Question: Match the following.
a) 2+2 i) 5
b) 4+5 ii) 4
c) 2+3 iii) 9
Answer
a) will match will ii) 4
b) will match will iii) 9
c) will match will i) 5
Subject
You have to specify the name of the subject where the Quiz questions will be based from.
Example: Geometry.
Topic
The topic is a defined area of the subject. Defining the topic gives a heads up to the learners to prepare accordingly.
Example: Circle.
Tags
Tags are meant to specify individual topics & sub-topics related to the Quiz. You need to separate the tags by comma.
Example: Mathematics, Modern Maths, Geometry, Triangle and Parallelogram.
Is Group Question?
Sometimes a batch of questions is formed from one single Question.
Example: A reading comprehension question will have a batch of questions from one common ground only.
If this question is one of them, tick it off.
Question Text
Enter the actual Question here, in the same form as you want the users to view.
Column I Options Text
This defines the serial number of Column I options along with the number of their correct match.
Option 1: Enter the serial number types of column 1 for its first option.
Option Text: If you want Column 1 options to be listed as A,B,C and so on, then you need to put in the first option as "A".
Correct Match: Put in the serial number of the correct match of Option 1.
To add more options, click on "+" placed just below "Option 1". Repeat the process to keep adding more options.
Example: If Column 1 options are numbered A,B,C..., then A becomes Option 1 Option Text. If the right answer of A is 2, then 2 becomes Correct match of Option 1.
Column 2 Options
This defines the serial number of Column 2 options.
Enter the serial number types of column which should be in sync with Column 1 Correct Matches.
Example: If Column 1 options are numbered A,B,C..., with their correct match being 3,1,5...., then the Column 2 options must be 1,2,3,4,5 and so on.

Show Advanced Options
Click on "Show Advanced Options" to discover more options.
- Order: Define the order of the question by giving them numerical value.
- Mark: This is the marks allotted to individual correct answers.
- Penalty: This is the marks deducted from the total score for marking individual questions wrong.
Click on "submit" to add the above question to the Quiz.
Repeat the process to add more questions.
After submitting all the questions, click on "save" to update all the changes.
